Garbage Collection

Schedule

Curbside collection of garbage takes place Wednesday of each week.  Garbage should be placed by the roadside no later than 7:00am to ensure pick-up. 

Information

A bag tag must be placed on all waste containers/garbage bags.  Bag tags can be purchased from the Town Hall for $2.00 per tag. They can also be purchased from the following Deseronto & Area businesses:

  • Downtown Variety: 356 Main St.
  • L&M Enterprises: 43 Dundas St. RR#1 Deseronto
  • Quinte Variety & Video: 297 Main St.
  • Sunrise Variety: 108 Dundas St.

Leaf/Brush Collection

Fall Leaf Clean-Up

The Town of Deseronto holds an annual Fall Leaf Clean-Up day where leaves are collected from all Town of Deseronto residents.  Leaves are to be raked to the edge of the Municipal roadway.  Do not include branches or tree limbs with the leaves, as they will not be collected.  Do not place leaves in boxes or bags.

Spring Leaf/Brush Clean-Up

The Town of Deseronto holds an annual Spring Clean-Up day where residents can drop off their yard waste.  Items accepted include: Brush, Burnable Yard Waste, including tree branches.  Curbside pick-up of waste is not available.

Waste Management and several other area providers offer disposal services for hazardous & electronic waste and tires.

Items such as clothing, accessories, home decor, small appliances, and kitchen wares can be taken to the Community Care for South Hastings located at 331 Edmon St. Deseronto, ON.

Items like dishes and furniture that is still in good shape can be taken to Waste Management at 1271 Beechwood Rd. to the ReUse Centre.  Acceptable items can be dropped off for free and others can take them home for free.  Call for further details.

Utilities

The Town of Deseronto is responsible for Municipal Water/Sewer service readings & billings.  All service inquiries and payments should be forwarded to the Town of Deseronto.  Water/Sewer service bills are issued bi-monthly.  For meter readings to be conducted in a timely manner it is important that your meter is as accessible as possible to meter reading staff.  Please ensure your meter is kept clear of any obstacles such as vegetation and debris.

Pre-Authorized Payment:
Pay your bills the hassle free way.  With our Pre-authorized Payment (PAP) option, your payment is made automatically on the payment due date.  Simply complete and sign the PAP form which can be obtained below or in person at the Town Hall.  Then email or deliver the form in person or by mail with a personal “void” cheque to the Town Hall located at 331 Main St. P.O. Box 310 Deseronto, ON K0K 1X0.

Internet/Telephone Banking:
Most major financial institutions will give you the option of paying your bill online or by telephone.  Use your account number (not your customer number) and s
elect “Deseronto (Town) Water & Sewer or Town of Deseronto Water & Sewer” as the payee when paying with this option (financial institutions vary in the format they use to display the payee name; if it can’t be found by searching for Deseronto, search for Town of Deseronto).  Telephone banking payments are forwarded to us the next day by your financial institution.

Customers setting up new accounts must come in to the office to complete and sign a contract for Water/Sewer services. 

When selling your property a property sale fee will apply.
