The Hastings and Prince Edward Health Unit has notified the Town of Deseronto that the water around Centennial Park has tested positive for high levels of blue-green algae. Algae blooms are often seen floating on the surface of water in ponds and in lakes where there is an increase in nutrients. Blue-green algae is harmful when ingested or when contact is made with it. In order to ensure there are no health concerns, please refrain from entering the water while the algae is in bloom. Municipal drinking water is safe. Notices are being posted in the park.
