College Street Reconstruction

UPDATE - August 29, 2019

Weather permitting, Gordon Barr Construction will start pouring the sidewalks on College Street between Thomas & Dundas Streets tomorrow, (Friday August 30th) in the morning.  Access to that area of College Street will be reduced as necessary.

UPDATEs

Gordon Barr Construction will start the base coat of asphalt on College Street between Thomas & Dundas Streets on Thursday August 29th at approximately 12:00 noon (weather permitting). The road will be closed to all traffic until the following morning. Please ensure that all vehicles are removed from the street to allow the paving to commence on time.

August 30, 2019 - Deseronto Public Works and Gordon Barr Construction advise College St. will be open to regular traffic after 4 pm today. Also, sidewalks are being poured today. Deseronto Public Works and Gordon Barr Construction request that people do not use the sidewalks until Monday September 1, 2019. Sorry for any inconvenience, we appreciate your understanding regarding these issues.

September 5, 2019 - Last top coat of asphalt applied today. Street closed until 6 pm September 5th, sorry for any inconvenience.


Gordon Barr Ltd. is the successful bidding contractor for the College St project. The work to be completed includes the replacement of the Storm Sewer, the Water main and associated services. Also included is the construction of a new Sidewalk and Curbs, the Paving of College Street and the associated Landscaping as required to return the grassed areas to original condition.

The planned start date of the construction is July 22, 2019 and it is anticipated that this work will take approximately seven (7) weeks to complete. Crews will be starting the temporary water setup on Wednesday July 17th. This will include the use of a backhoe and little to no traffic disruption. Please be aware that during the construction phase the road will only be open to local traffic at times. Temporary storage of the aggregate that is to be reused will be stored at the arctic gardens site while the project is going on. We apologize for the disruption and any inconvenience.
