Main Street between St George and Centre Streets will close at 4:00 pm today to allow staff to repair a water leak. The road will re-open later this evening, as soon as the work is complete. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Please be advised that the expansion of the water main being installed on North Street in the Town of Deseronto is nearing completion and the contractor and Operating Authority are preparing to begin the activation process of the new service mains.
On January 8, 2024, the commissioning of the new water main will commence. This process will consist of filling the main with chlorinated water while utilizing backflow prevention measures in case of complications (leakage etc.) followed by performance monitoring for a 24-hour period by Ontario Clean Water Agency.
Following that 24-hour monitoring period, the service main will be filled and flushed two additional times to ensure that there are no leaks or concerns with the service main and monitored for an additional (7) seven days. Without any complications during that week, the service main will be eligible to be put in service. During the 24-hour period and the weeklong monitoring period, there should not be any impact on water quality or quantity to the neighbouring properties.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this notice or the process as planned, please call the Town Hall at 613-396-2440.
There will be some general maintenance work on the water mains between the hours of 8 am and 12 noon on Tuesday August 29th, 2023.
Residents may notice short periods of low pressure and discoloured water. Any discolouration is temporary and is not a health hazard. To restore clarity, remove the aerator from your tap and turn on a cold water tap until the water runs clear. Residents are asked to minimize water consumption and avoid doing laundry during the above time frame.
If you have any questions, please contact the Town Hall at 613-396-2440
