Culbertson Land Tract MBQ Settlement Update
On October 3rd, 2022, The MBQ had a signing ceremony for a Partial Settlement Agreement between Canada and the MBQ for a portion of the Culbertson Tract. This partial claim settlement consists of approx. 299.43 acres identified in purple in the map below, commonly known as the Quarry and Kimmett’s farm. Approx. 97 acres of this settlement is farmland located in the northern part of our community on Deseronto (Boundary) Road.
As per Federal policy regarding land settlements between the MBQ and the Canadian government, the Town of Deseronto was not provided details or was part of this process.
We, along with our legal team, are working with our Provincial and Federal representatives to provide more details as to the next steps in this process and will let the Community know as we find out more.

Town Update - June 29, 2021
Hello Everyone,
As we welcome in the warmer months of summer, we would like to take a moment to provide you with a few updates on what’s going on in Deseronto.
As we move into the next phases of reopening, we will be striving to return to normal
operations. The Town Hall will resume in person services on Monday July 5th. Bag tags will be required on all bags of garbage effective Friday, July 16th. The Library will resume services on Tuesday, July 6th. Please follow the Deseronto Public Library Facebook page for updates on library hours.
Deseronto Transit is continuing to run accessible public transit Monday to Friday from 5am – 5pm. For more information or to book your ride please call dispatch at (613) 396-4008. Please note that face masks are required and are to be properly worn on all buses. Exact change is to be deposited in the farebox upon entry to the bus. The driver is unable to give change at this time and has no access to the cash.
Due to the ongoing restructuring of our operations and upcoming renovations of the Community and Fitness Centre, the Fitness Centre will not be opening at this time. We appreciate your patience, and our goal is to resume services when possible, with a more improved product for our community to enjoy. Please watch for details while this situation progresses or call the Town Hall for further information.
Due to the ongoing restrictions this year, the Town will not be conducting Canada Day celebrations for 2021. We have however, budgeted for a firework display and a celebration, which we hope to hold later in the year, once larger gatherings are permitted. We are looking forward to getting together as a community and will keep everyone posted as to when we will be able to accommodate.
The Town is currently going through various stages of restructuring. Please note over the next few months you will notice the Town Hall will be undergoing renovations. The Town Hall will be receiving some upgrades to include improved traffic flow and ventilation of our building.
In addition, we are currently looking for a new Town Manager and various other positions within our organization. These positions are key to our operation and we plan on filling them over the next few months and will keep you informed of the progress. In the interim, Deputy Clerk Gail Maracle and Deputy Treasurer Mora Nicholls have taken acting roles to help provide services to you.
For information please call the Town Hall at 613-396-2440, check out our website at www.deseronta.ca or to review meetings check out our YouTube page.
On behalf of the Town Council and staff, we would like to wish everyone a safe and healthy summer.
