  • You are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, strep, bronchitis, pneumonia, ear infection, cold or flu, sinus infection, vomiting or diarrhea.

  • You have been unable to book an appointment with your primary care provider, or a health care professional has referred you to this clinic.

  • You are unable to safely monitor your symptoms at home.

  • You are at higher risk of severe illness, such as immunocompromised individuals regardless of vaccine status.

What to bring with you

  • You should bring a list of your medication and a list of any important medical conditions to your appointment for a clinical assessment.

  • Health card if you have one.

Appointments must be pre-booked.

This is not a vaccination clinic. Clinic locations and hours are subject to change based on staffing.

If you have one or more of the following symptoms, you should immediately call 911 or go to an Emergency Department:

  • Severe difficulty breathing (struggling for each breath, can only speak in single words)

  • Severe chest pain (constant tightness or crushing sensation)

  • Feeling confused or unsure of where you are

  • Losing consciousness

  • Children with recorded fever greater than 38 Celsius AND who are under 2 months of age

  • Children with any difficulty breathing, using chest muscles to breathe, severe lethargy (not waking up to drink), neck stiffness

Updated Public Health Measures - January 31, 2022

The Ontario Government announced updated public heath measures that go into effect January 31, 2022 as part of a cautious and phased return to the Reopening Ontario Roadmap. Further details regarding the updated public health measures can be found here.

The Deseronto Community Centre will reopen on January 31 for public skating and bookings. The following health and safety measures will be in place;

  • Proof of Vaccination - enhanced vaccine certificate with a QR code (printed or digital)

  • Proof of Identification - for ages 12+

  • Capacity limit is 50%

  • Face masks are required unless actively skating.

The public skating schedule is;

  • Every Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM

  • Every Sunday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Ontario Announces New Public Health Measures

In response to recent trends that show a rapid increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations, Ontario is temporarily moving into Step Two of the Roadmap to Reopen with modifications that take into account the province’s successful vaccination efforts.

COVID-19 Vaccine Pop-Up Clinic - October 15

Come out to the Rathbun Park Gazebo, in Deseronto on Friday, October 15, from 10 am to 1:00 pm.

  • Ages 12 and over

  • First and second doses

  • Bring your health card

  • Both Pfizer and Moderna are available

In case of inclement weather, clinics will be held at the Deseronto Public Library at 358 Main Street.

Updated COVID-19 Vaccination Information

GENERAL VACCINE BOOKING INFORMATION

Individuals turning 12 and over in 2021 are now eligible to book COVID-19 vaccination appointments at ontario.ca/bookvaccine or by phone at 1-833-943-3900. You do not need to contact HPEPH.

KEY DATES FOR ACCELERATED SECOND DOSE APPOINTMENTS

JUNE 21 - If you received your first dose on or before May 9 you are now eligible to book your second dose appointment.

WEEK OF JUNE 28 - All Ontarians who have received their first dose can schedule their second dose (respecting recommended dosing intervals).

VACCINATION FOR YOUTH

The province has made a commitment to offering first and second doses to eligible youth before the end of the summer. Youth will be offered the Pfizer vaccine, which is currently the only COVID-19 vaccine that has been authorized by Health Canada for use in individuals aged 12 and over.

HOW TO BOOK A VACCINE APPOINTMENT

Vaccine appointments can be booked through the provincial booking system at ontario.ca/bookvaccine or by phone at 1-833-943-3900.

Adults 18 and over can receive their vaccination at participating local pharmacies, by contacting the pharmacy directly. Select pharmacies are also offering vaccinations to youth aged 12 – 17. Please visit covid-19.ontario.ca/vaccine-locations for location and registration information.

When there are no appointments available for HPEPH Community Clinics on the Provincial Vaccine Appointment Booking system, please continue to check back daily. New appointments are added regularly. If eligible, you may also wish to register on our Weekly Standby List every week from Friday at 4:00 pm to the following Friday at 12:00 pm.

In addition to the clinics being offered by HPEPH, the KFL&A Public Health Unit is offering a clinic at the Strathcona Paper Centre in Napanee.

TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE

If you require assistance with transportation to your vaccine appointment you may be able to access help through various community agencies. Please visit the United Way’s website for more details and information on who is eligible for support.

Ontario to Move to Step One of the Roadmap to Reopen Ahead of Schedule

Citing continuous improvements in public health and health system indicators as well as the provincewide vaccination rate, the Ontario government has announced that the province will move into Step One of the reopening plans on Friday June 11, 2021.

Ontario Maintains COVID-19 Restrictions as Stay-at-Home Order is Set to Expire

Although the Ontario government Stay-at-Home Order expired this morning all public health and workplace measures remain in effect until the province enters Step One of the Roadmap to Reopen.

The Ontario government Roadmap to Reopen is a three step plan that is expected to begin on or about June 14, 2021. Details about this plan can be found in this news release.

Province Announces Reopening Roadmap

The Ontario government announced plans yesterday for the safe reopening of the province and gradual lifting of public health measures. The three-step plan is expected to begin June 14, 2021 but will be confirmed in detail closer to that time.

This announcement also detailed the opening of some outdoor recreational activities, with restrictions in place, effective May 22 at 12:01 am.

The Province announced yesterday that the current declaration of emergency and Stay-at-Home order have been extended until June 2, 2021.

For immediate release - Hastings and Prince Edward Counties/April 19, 2021

Individuals aged 60 and older are eligible to book an appointment for the COVID-19 vaccine at Ontario.ca/bookvaccine. Online booking is highly encouraged.

Individuals aged 40 and older will be eligible for an AstraZeneca vaccine through the Ontario Pharmacy program starting April 20, 2021. Please visit https://covid-19.ontario.ca/vaccine-locations for participating pharmacies and information on how to register for this program.

As booking is being managed directly by the province, those who are unable to book online are advised to contact the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900. The line is available 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday-Sunday. Individuals who do not have a photo ID health card will be required to book by phone. Please do not contact HPEPH to book. This will help ensure our phone lines remain available to those who need them most.

The sooner you get your vaccine, the sooner you can be protected from COVID-19. To get your appointment as quickly as possible, visit ontario.ca/bookvaccine!

Enhanced Provincewide Restriction and Extended Stay at Home Order

Please be advised that today the Province announced new stay at home orders and enhanced restrictions effective April 17th.

As a result, access to public spaces such as playgrounds and gathering areas will be temporarily out of public use.

HPEPH PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUES CLASS ORDER TO ADDRESS CONCERNING INCREASE IN COVID-19 CASES AS EASTER APPROACHES

Over the past week there has been a concerning increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties (HPEC). In an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19, Dr. Piotr Oglaza, Medical Officer of Health and CEO at Hastings Prince Edward Public Health (HPEPH) has issued a Class Order pursuant to Section 22 of the Ontario Health Protection and Promotion Act, 1990 to proactively protect our community and prevent an impact on our emergency medical services and hospitals.

The Class Order which comes into effect at 12:01 a.m. March 30, 2021, replacing the previous Class Order issued on February 9, 2021, is issued to all persons in or present in HPEC.

Are you, or is someone in your life, aged 75 years or older? Now is the time to get your first COVID-19 vaccination! Appointments are available throughout the region, as early as this week!

Local vaccination clinics are run by welcoming and caring local health professionals, follow strict health and safety protocols, and are accessible even if you use a walker or wheelchair.

To book your appointment, visit Ontario.ca/bookvaccine. If you are unable to book online, contact the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900. The line is available 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Monday-Sunday. Individuals who do not have a photo ID health card will be required to book by phone.

Please note that eligibility is limited to individuals aged 75 and older, unless you have received a direct invitation from the Ministry of Health as a member of a priority group.

Provincial Vaccination Booking Site Open for those 80 years of age and older.

Starting today, Monday, March 15, 2021, all those 80 years of age and older are eligible to book a vaccine appointment through the new provincial booking site.
